We’re Running L…o…w…...
Parents, if you’re able, we could really use a helping hand! We’re nearly (and in some cases, completely) out of the following items: pencils, facial tissue, and disinfectant wipes. We’d really appreciate your help!

Beginning on December 3rd, our school will collect food items for needy families. The food will be donated to Sacred Heart Food Closet to prepare food baskets. Sacred Heart Food Closet is in most need of peanut butter, canned fruit, canned tuna, Jiffy corn muffin mix, canned soup, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, pasta noodles, canned vegetables, powdered milk, pinto or other dried beans, bags of white rice, etc. We will collect these items until Wednesday, December 19th. When a child brings in an item, they will be given a paper ornament to decorate and place on our giving tree at the front of the school! Thank you for all your help! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Hildebrandt or Mrs. Hamman.
I don’t normally post our current DonorsChoose proposals at the top of our site (you can always view those in the Wilson Wishlist on your right and at http://www.donorschoose.org/msyork). But this time, I’d like to make an exception! Read Across America day (its date being chosen to honor Dr. Seuss’s birthday) is coming up on March 2nd. The students in our class have requested more Dr. Seuss books be put on our shelves and in order to do so, I have once again turned to DonorsChoose! This year alone, the donors at DonorsChoose have provided us with nutrition books, a year’s supply of pencils and erasers, alternative energy kits, the Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Inventors & Scientists book series, and manipulatives to understand the concept of time. After posting this particular proposal, it was brought to my attention that it qualified for partial funding via Horace Mann. This means that it will only cost $89 to fund instead of $177 (if we move quick!). I would very much appreciate your help in spreading Spring into Reading with Dr. Seuss! to others you feel can contribute, or of course, contribute yourself! What a great surprise it would be to have Dr. Seuss books on our shelves in time for Read Across America!
Wilson Elementary has been collecting Box Tops for Education box tops for quite some time now. In addition to our school’s collection, there is now an option of teacher registries! These are similar to bridal or wedding registries, where those requesting products can create lists that are easy for a potential purchaser to view. I’ve added a few items to our new class registry, so click on My Class Essentials and take a look! We are always in need of cleaning wipes, pencils, and facial tissue. Thanks for your support!
Well, folks, I have to say it yet again. I LOVE DONORSCHOOSE! Within the last two days, we have had three proposals completely funded and one 3/4 funded! The grand total is just under $1,000! Two days!!!
Soon to arrive: One Canon Powershot Digital Camera, five books on various native Californian tribes, and multiple writing helpers.
As those of you at Back to School Night heard, writing will be a major focus for our entire school. The writing supplies we will receive from DonorsChoose (five different items in all; only one is seen above) will really help the progress of our writing!
Happy New Year!!! I have got the BEST news! Are you ready for this? Are you sitting down? Our class had FIVE DonorsChoose proposals funded over Winter Break! FIVE! We’re really going to get a chance to practice our thank you letters now!!!
I am in shock! Below is part of what’s heading our way!
Whoa.
